Harry Potter: and The Philosopher's Stone
Bearing in mind that I'm reading the last book in this collection, I think I can already talk openly about what I think about it.
I have to admit that this
wasn't the 1st Harry Potter book I've read, in fact, I saw the movies
1st and it wasn't until I started to enjoy reading that I started
reading the Prisoner of Azkaban (which was 1 of the only 2 books I have
from the collection) - you can kill me now... only not!
But getting to the point:
I liked the book, although I found Ron Weasly too childish even for an
11 year old. I think he exaggerates (a lot) his attitude towards
Hermione and, at one point, Harry himself exaggerates a bit.
Still, the whole story and plot and everything is developed in a
spectacular way. It's almost mindblowing how J.K. Rowling has managed to
develop a universe in such detail and that, in fact, makes sense from
start to finish!
At least, that's what happens in the book,
because in the movie, now that I'm reviewing them too, there are certain
details that are missing and that end up raising doubts in certain
scenes, but it's like people say: it's a movie, it can't have all the
details, or we would have a 24h movie...
Anyways, it's
impossible to remain indifferent to the story of the 11-year-old who
discovers that he's a wizard and that his parents died to save him from
the greatest dark wizard of all time.
Just as it's impossible
to remain indifferent to Harry's loyalty to Ron, right from the
beginning of the book, when he defends him.
And this is
going to sound very controversial (and it is), but I believe Harry
doesn't fit in with Griffindor. At least not 100%. He has a bit of all
the qualities of every house, but of course, he's only Griffindor
because of the qualities he values most and because he asked the
sorting hat not to be a Slytherin.
Anyways, this book made me
want to continue reading all the remaining 6 books and that's what I
did. So in the meantime I'll try to finish the last book and give
feedback on the rest!
